, , and are common result complements. They come after a verb and show what result the action reaches.

The three complements all show result, but they do not mean the same thing.

1. Verb + 好: completed properly

after a verb usually means the action is completed properly and the result is ready, usable, fixed, or in good order.

Here, does not only mean “good.” It means the action has produced a ready result.

3. Verb + 完: finish the action

after a verb focuses on completion. It says that the action has ended or the whole task has been done.

4. 好 vs. 完

after a verb shows that the action reaches a target, obtains something, contacts something, or successfully gets a result.

6. 到 with perception verbs

is common with verbs of seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, or noticing. It shows successful contact or perception.

Without , the verb may only name the action or sense. With , the sentence emphasizes that perception succeeded.

7. Negative forms

For completed events, use before the verb. For potential meaning, use Verb + 不 + Complement.

Do not use these complements only because English says “finish” or “get.” Choose the complement based on the actual result.
